01 · IN THE ROOM

The experience.

Westlands at dusk: traffic crawling along Parklands Road, and somewhere behind a wall, music. You step inside and the city falls away. A sprawling yard of containers, stages and string lights, painted murals stacking up the walls. Nairobi collectives run sound from a tower in the corner. The audience is half local creatives, half visiting Africans from Lagos, Accra, Joburg. The kitchen sends out nyama choma to anyone within reach.
