Basilica Hudson sits at the south end of the Hudson, Amtrak two hours up the river from Penn Station, a 19th-century iron foundry that smelted railroad parts until 1996 and now smelts something less material. Melissa Auf der Maur and her partner bought it in 2010 and the steel-truss interior, riveted and stained with industrial use, became one of the most quietly important venues in the eastern United States. The 24-Hour Drone in April is the room's signature programme: a continuous wall of sustained sound from sunrise to sunrise, audiences asleep on the floor in sleeping bags, the bass moving through your spine like geology.
Book accommodation in Hudson months ahead for 24-Hour Drone weekend. Half the audience never leaves the building for the full 24 hours. Bring a sleeping bag.
Industry made sacred. The room is the music. Pure Sonic Paths thesis.
