Teatro Municipal de Santiago is a 1857 French Neoclassical opera house that has survived two earthquakes (1906, 1985) and one fire (1870). Each reconstruction kept the 1,500-seat horseshoe and the gilded interior intact. The Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago plays here twelve months a year. The free Conciertos al Aire Libre in summer happen on the plaza outside. Same orchestra, no ticket, drink in hand. The most loved listening room in the southern cone.
Free outdoor concerts on the plaza in summer. Same orchestra as inside, no ticket, drink in hand.
Chile's anchor concert hall. Survived everything an earthquake nation could throw at it.
Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago Friday and Saturday evening concerts run year-round. Summer (December-March) free outdoor concerts on the plaza outside are the open-air version of the same orchestra.
Box office Tuesday through Sunday 10:00 to 19:00. Performances most evenings. Closed Mondays for maintenance. Free outdoor plaza concerts most weekends in summer.
Metro Universidad de Chile (Line 1), exit on Agustinas, walk one block. From Plaza de Armas, five-minute walk west. The theatre faces Plaza Aníbal Pinto in central Santiago.
